Peter Livingstone jailed for various offences at children's home in East Lothian
A 67-year-old man has been jailed for two years and six months in connection with a series of non-recent physical and sexual assaults at a residential home for children in East Lothian.
Peter Livingstone appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, 14 March, 2025, after previously being found guilty of various offences following a trial in February.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
The offences took place at the home between April 1979 and April 1983 and involved boys aged between 11 and 17 at the time.
Detective Inspector Jim McLauchlan, of Police Scotland’s National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “Peter Livingstone abused his position of trust working with children and I would commend the victims for coming forward and reporting his behaviour to us.
“I hope this sentencing gives the victims and their families some kind of closure.
“Police Scotland takes all reports of abusive and sexual crime extremely seriously, regardless of the passage of time.
“We urge anyone wishing to make a report to get in touch. We have specialist officers across the country who can speak to you and work alongside partners to bring those responsible to justice.
“Anyone wishing to make contact can do so via 101 or make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
