Man sentenced following a fatal road crash on the A9 in May 2023
A man has been sentenced following a fatal crash on the A9 near to Auchterarder in May, 2023.
The crash involving a motorcycle and a car happened around 11.30pm on Friday, 19 May, 2023. Emergency services attended and the 63-year-old rider John Hammerton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martin Gibson, 58, was sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 26 March to 15 months in prison and has been disqualified from driving for more than 22 months.

“Drivers are responsible for their actions and Gibson’s highlight the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and the lasting impact it has on those involved, their families and their friends.
“If you’re a road user, take care at junctions and look out for motorcyclists, especially in rural areas.
“We all have a responsibility to take care on Scotland’s roads.”
