Woman charged in connection with fatal crash on A725 Lanarkshire in July, 2024

An 18-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal road crash on the A725 Lanarkshire on Thursday, 18 July, 2024.

The crash involving an HGV, a Ford Transit flatbed and a Mini Cooper happened at the Shawhead flyover at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road, around 11.15am.

The 50-year-old driver of the flat bed was pronounced dead at the scene. He was named as Viorel Ciucu.

The occupants of the other vehicles were checked at the scene.

The 18-year-old female driver of the HGV has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
