Man named following fatal crash near Mauchline

The 19-year-old man who died after his car was struck by a falling tree near Mauchline can now be named as Calum Carmichael from the New Cumnock area.

The incident happened around 7.10am on Friday, 24 January, 2025, on the B743 and involved a blue Ford Focus.

The driver, Mr Carmichael, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment, but died on Saturday, 25 January.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts remain with Calum’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
