A 41-year-old man was sentenced to nine years for raping a 16 year-old
A 41-year-old man from Blairgowrie has been sentenced to nine years in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh today, Friday, 31 January 2025.
Hugh Mullen, along with his son Cameron, were convicted of multiple serious sexual assaults of a teenager. Hugh Mullen was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
On Tuesday, 11 April, 2023, Hugh Mullen, with his son Cameron, 21, took the 16-year-old girl to a house in Blairgowrie where she was subjected to multiple serious sexual assaults.
The young woman managed to run out of the property and police were contacted.
Officers arrested and charged both men in connection with the incidents.
On 24 January, 2025 at the High Court in Edinburgh both were convicted of rape. Cameron Mullen, from Perth, will be sentenced at Edinburgh High Court at a later date.
Detective Constable Murray Scott said: “Hugh and Cameron Mullen will now face the consequences of their despicable actions.
"I hope today's sentence brings a sense of closure to the young woman involved.
"Anyone who has been a victim of such crimes is urged to come forward and report it to us. We’re committed to fully investigating and bringing those responsible in front of the courts.
"I want to reassure you, we have specially trained officers and partner agencies who will support you throughout.”
