Woman named following death in Chirnside, Duns

A 31-year-old woman who died in Chirnside, Duns on Sunday, 9 February, 2025 has been named as Megan Hughes.

Officers were called to a property in Windram Road around 4.35am.

Megan’s family has asked for privacy.

In a statement, they said: “Megan was a much-loved mother and daughter. She was beautiful and caring. This has left a massive hole in the family who are all absolutely devastated.”

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death. He is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 11 February, 2025.

Detective Inspector Laura White said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Megan at this difficult time. We will continue to support them as the investigation continues.”
