Two men arrested in connection with cryptocurrency fraud
Two men have been arrested following an investigation into Cryptocurrency fraud.
The matter was reported to Police in July, 2024 after a 75 year-old Aberdeenshire man lost a six-figure sum.
On Tuesday, 18 February, 2025, officers from North East division CID travelled to Coventry and Mexborough.
With assistance from West Midlands and South Yorkshire Police, officers arrested two men, aged 36 and 54. Both were charged in connection with fraud offences and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The 54-year-old man was arrested in Coventry and the 36-year-old man was arrested in Mexborough.
Detective Sergeant David Williamson said: “This operation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring people are protected from fraud. We will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice.
“I would also encourage members of the public to be mindful of activity which appears fraudulent and to report this to police.”
