Public urged to be vigilant following reports of counterfeit bank notes on Barra
We're asking the public, and in particular shop owners, to be vigilant regarding counterfeit bank notes.
Over the last, we have received reports of fake £20 notes being used on Barra.
The money features King Charles 3rd portrait and are marked Bank of England. They feel and look legitimate and do not indicate with counterfeit detection pens as they are of the new plastic material. The counterfeit notes have the same unique identifier – BB81 324259.
If anyone has any information about these notes or is aware of anything suspicious, please contact us on 101.
