Man arrested and charged in connection with death of woman in Chirnside, Duns

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 31-year-old woman in Chirnside, Duns on Sunday, 9 February, 2025.

Around 4.35am, officers were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a property on Windram Road. Emergency services attended, however the 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 31-year-old man is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 11 February, 2025.

Detective Inspector Laura White said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this very difficult time. Specialist officers are providing support to her family as our investigation continues.”

Chief Inspector Stuart Fletcher said: “We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and I want to reassure residents that there will be an ongoing police presence in the area. Additional patrols are being carried out and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to officers.”
