Appeal for witnesses after child was bitten in Irvine
Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after a child was injured by a dog in Irvine.
Around 6pm on Thursday, 20 February, a three-year-old boy was approached by a dog without an owner in Leven Place in the Castlepark area of Irvine and bitten on the face.
The child received facial injuries and required surgery at University Hospital Crosshouse.
The dog, described being a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type of dog and cream in colour, was last seen running off in Leven Place, Irvine.
Inspector Lisa Thomson said: "We are keen to trace this dog and it's owners as quickly as possible.
"Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have information that could help identify the owner of the dog responsible, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1674 of 21 February, 2025.”
