Three men jailed for wilful fireraising and drugs offences in Fife
Three men have been sentenced today, Tuesday, 1 April, 2025, in connection with wilful fireraising and drugs offences.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court, 49-year-old Barry Baxter was jailed for 12 years, 49-year-old Angus Guthrie was jailed for 11 years and six months, and 45-year-old Stuart Young was sentenced to eight years.
They were convicted of setting fires at two properties in the Queensferry Road and Duffy Place areas of Rosyth on Tuesday, 25 July, 2023. On Thursday, 27 July, 2023, heroin and amphetamine was recovered following searches in the Rosyth and Oakley areas.
Following a police investigation Baxter, Guthrie and Young were arrested and charged in connection with these crimes.
Detective Constable Dougie Potter said: "Setting these fires at properties was a dangerous and reckless act. Thankfully there were no serious injuries, however it put residents' lives at risk.
"We will not tolerate this type of criminality, and we will rigorously pursue those responsible. This was a complex investigation, and I would thank the public and our partner agencies for their assistance in bringing these men to justice."
