Tayside Division Intensification Week - September, 2024

ed out a five-day intensive operation across Tayside to target those involved in criminality.
Over the first four days, 40 people were arrested and 12 property search warrants were executed.
The offences included domestic abuse, child abuse, crimes of violence and involvement in the supply of drugs.
Welfare visits were also carried out those who are most vulnerable in our communities.
The initiative ran from Monday, 23 September to Friday, 27 September, 2024 across Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross.
Detective Superintendent Ray Birnie of Tayside Division CID said: “I want to reassure our communities across Tayside that there remains a zero-tolerance approach to those who commit crime. Whilst our activities never cease, this week has allowed us to intensify our activities and focus on the greatest risks. This has resulted in significant positive outcomes.
“This week saw support from our colleagues in Operational Support Division, Road Policing and Air Support Unit. This is a strength of Police Scotland, allowing national resources to be deployed into local policing divisions. I know there has been speculation regarding the police helicopter being based in the Division this week, but this was to assist our operation. However, we have daily access to this key asset throughout the rest of the year.
“Information from the public is absolutely vital in our fight against crime and I would ask that they let us know of any concerns they may have. We gather that information and act on it, targeting and disrupting those involved in illegal activities. The information provided also enables us to bring operations such as this one to a successful conclusion and in doing so enhances the safety of our communities, including safeguarding the most vulnerable.”
