Pair arrested in connection with fraud at numerous bank branches
Police in Aberdeen have arrested and reported two people in connection with a series of fraud incidents at numerous banks.
On the morning of Thursday, 19 September, 2024, a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested following reports from bank branches on Aberdeen’s Albyn Place and Union Street, involving the fraudulent theft of around £5,000 in cash.
Following further enquiries in cooperation with national colleagues, the pair have been reported in connection with a total of eight incidents at branches in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dalkeith, between July and September 2024. The total lost money is estimated at a five-figure sum.
Further enquiries remain ongoing.
The pair are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, 20 September, 2024.
