Fatal road crash on the A78, Irvine

Road Policing Officers are appealing for information following a fatal road crash on the A78 at Irvine on Friday, 20 September, 2024.
 
Around 12.25am, a 37-year-old man was struck by a Peugeot Partner van near to Eglinton interchange.

Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 49-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.
 
Sergeant Brian Simpson from the road policing unit at Irvine said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
 
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information that may assist our enquiry to contact us.
 
“I would also ask anyone who was driving on the A78 around the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything relevant.
 
“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 0029 of 20 September, 2024.”
