Man who died following a crash in Airdrie town centre named
A man who died following a crash in Airdrie town centre on Friday, 11 October, 2024, has been named.
He was Francis (Frank) Hooper, aged 58, from the Airdrie area.
His family have asked for privacy. They have released the following statement:
"Frank was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him."
The incident happened around 3.25pm when a car collided with a bus and two other cars in Stirling Street. Mr Hooper, the driver, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
Road Policing Sergeant Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Hooper.
“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact us via 101, quoting incident number 2154 of Friday, 11 October, 2024.”
