Man jailed for 11 years for attempted murder following crash in Jedburgh
A man has been jailed for 11 years after being convicted of attempted murder following a crash in Jedburgh in 2022.
William McBurnie, 57, was arrested and charged after a car crashed into a building on Market Place on Wednesday, 7 December.
He pled guilty at the High Court in Livingston on Monday, 9 September, 2024.
McBurnie was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Thursday, 10 October, 2024, and was also banned from driving or holding a license for a period of 16 and a half years.
Detective Inspector Debbie Duncan said: “William McBurnie put the lives of others in danger with his reckless actions and he is now facing the consequences.
“His victims played a vital role in achieving this outcome and I would like to thank them for their support and hope that they can now begin to move on from this experience.
“Violence and endangering the lives of others will not be tolerated and we will rigorously pursue those responsible of such crimes and ensure they are brought to justice.”
