Major incident stood down in Alloa
A major incident that took place in Alloa is being stood down.
At around 6pm on Sunday, 6 October, emergency services were called to a report of an explosion at a block of flats in Kellie Place.
One man, who was within the property where the explosion took place, was pronounced dead at the scene. No formal identification has taken place at this time.
Three other individuals from within the block of flats attended at Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for treatment for minor injuries.
Alloa Town Hall has been opened as a respite centre for occupants of the other flats within the address while gas and electrical work is undertaken. If they are unable to return to their homes this evening, they will be appropriately supported with alternative accommodation.
A number of road closures had been implemented by police while the multi-agency response was underway, and these are in the process of being lifted. However, further utilities work may be required, resulting in additional closures.
Sergeant Neill Drummond said: "We are still working to establish the full circumstances of what happened at this property, however, we can confirm that one male has passed away.
"Our inquiries to confirm his identity and provide his next of kin with all the necessary support they may require are ongoing.
"We are grateful to the local community for their continued co-operation and support of our investigation, and we'll provide more information in due course."
