Appeal for witnesses following serious road crash – Maryhill Road, Wyndford, Glasgow
Police are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a road crash in Wyndford, Glasgow, on Saturday, 12 October 2024.
Around 7.35pm, the teenager was walking alone along the footpath on the A81, Maryhill Road near to Dalsholm Road when he was struck by a black Mercedes E220 car travelling westbound along Maryhill Road.
He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
The 41-year-old male driver of the car and his three passengers were not injured.
Constable Scott MacKenzie, Road Policing Unit, Greater Glasgow Division, is investigating the cause of the crash and is appealing for information. He said:
“This can be quite a busy junction and so we would ask anyone who was in the area, who has not yet spoken to officers but believes they may have information that could help our enquiry, to contact us.
“We would also be interested in any dashcam footage from the road at the time.
“A member of the public who may have witnessed the incident was spoken to by officers at the time and officers are keen to speak to them again.
“Information can be passed to officers via 101. Please quote incident number 3162 of Saturday, 12 October 2024 when calling.”
The road was closed northbound for approximately seven and a half hours, opening at 3.35am on Sunday morning.
