Appeal following wilful fire-raising in Selkirk
Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders.
Around 1pm on Wednesday, 18 September, 2024, a package was delivered and left on the landing outside a property in Shawburn Road.
Around 3pm a witness noticed that the package was on fire and police were later contacted.
The door of the property sustained significant damage as a result.
Detective Constable Claire White said: “Extensive enquiries have been carried out however it remains unclear why this package was deliberately set on fire and who is responsible.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Shawburn Road area between 1pm and 3pm on Wednesday, 18 September, and may have noticed an unfamiliar person, or anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2802 of Wednesday, 18 September, 2024. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
