Sean Wyness jailed for serious sexual assault in Aberdeen

A 34-year-old man has been jailed for seven years in connection with a sexual offence in Aberdeen.

Sean Alexander Wyness was sentenced at the High Court in Aberdeen on Friday, 29 November, 2024 for the serious sexual assault of a woman in May 2022.

Detective Inspector Ryan Morris said: “Wyness will now face the consequences of his despicable actions in prison.

“I would like to commend the woman for her strength in coming forward during the investigation and I hope today’s sentencing brings her some sense of closure and helps her move on from this traumatic ordeal.

“We would encourage anyone who has experienced any form of violent or sexual offence, regardless of when it happened, to report it to us. We will investigate thoroughly and have specially trained officers and partner agencies who will support you throughout.”
