Appeal following wilful fire in Greenock
Officers in Greenock are appealing for information following an incident of wilful fireraising.
Around 6.20am on Saturday, 9 November, 2024, emergency services were called to a report of a fire within the common close of a block of flats on Mount Pleasant Street, Greenock.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and nobody was injured during the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for the assistance of the public.
Detective Constable John Casey, of Greenock CID, said: "Fortunately no one was hurt as a result of this dangerous and reckless act.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to trace those responsible.
“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has any information that could help to get in touch.
"We’re also keen to hear anyone who may have relevant private CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.”
