Man sentenced in connection with a historical indecent assault
A man has been sentenced in connection with a historical indecent assault of a teenage boy.
Peter McGuiness, 59, committed the crimes in South Lanarkshire between 1992 and 1995 and was today, 24 May, jailed for three years and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
He was previously convicted following a trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 1 May, 2024.
Detective Constable Anthony Cunningham said: “Our thoughts are with the victim of McGuiness and we hope this sentencing gives him some peace of mind.
“We are committed to investigating all reports of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, no matter when these crimes took place.
“I would urge anyone who has been the victim of any offence of this nature to contact police, knowing that our officers and partner agencies will fully support you.”
