Appeal for information after series of incidents in Greenock
Detectives are appealing for information following a number of incidents overnight in the Greenock area.
Between 10pm on Monday, 25 March, and 7am on Tuesday, 26 March, police received reports of three vehicles deliberately set on fire, one stolen car and items having been stolen from insecure vehicles in the west end and Bow areas of the town.
The incidents took place in Paton Street, Tasker Street, Forsyth Street, Robertson Street, Brisbane Street and South Street.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and was due to appear before Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 26 March, 2024.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents and trace a second man who was seen in the area.
Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “We are appealing for anyone in the west end or Bow areas of Greenock who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the early hours of Tuesday morning to please get in touch.
“In particular we would like to hear from people with private CCTV, dashcam or doorbell camera footage which could be of significance to our investigation.
