Over £122,000 worth of drugs recovered in Lanarkshire
Over £122,000 worth of drugs were recovered throughout Lanarkshire in May.
On Wednesday, 15 May, 2024 officers seized cocaine from a premises on Clyde Drive, Bellshill, estimated to be worth over £21,000. A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
On Thursday, 16 May two men, aged 22 and 41, and a 41-year-old woman were arrested and charged after a significant amount of cocaine was recoevered from a premises on Milton Street in Motherwell. The Class A drug has an estimated potential street value of over £69,000.
A further recovery was made in Motherwell at Wittagreen Crescent on Wednesday, 22 May. £14,100 worth of cannabis was recovered. Three men, aged 27, 29 and 51, were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.
All seven people charged were released on an undertaking to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.
Officers searching a premises under warrant on Winston Crescent, Blantyre, on Thursday, 30 May, seized cannabis worth nearly £18,000. A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Saturday, 29 June, 2024.
Detective Inspector Scott Robertson, from Lanarkshire's Serious and Organised Crime department, said: “We have taken a significant quantity of drugs off our streets and arrested eight individuals for drugs offences. These arrests underline our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
"Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is committed to bringing those responsible for the supply and sale of illegal substances to justice.
