Darren McPhee jailed for causing death by dangerous driving in Fife
A 33-year-old man has been jailed for four years and eight months for causing death by dangerous driving in Cowdenbeath.
Darren McPhee was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 24 June, 2024.
Officers were called to the fatal collision involving a car and a pedestrian at Cowdenbeath High Street on Thursday, 14 September, 2023.
Stephen Davis, then 46-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
McPhee, the driver of the car, fled the area and was traced by officers in Moray a few days later.
Road Policing Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: "Our thoughts remain with Mr Davis' family and friends and I hope that today’s sentencing brings them some comfort and allows them to move forward.
“Darren McPhee showed absolutely no regard for the law and his reckless actions highlight the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and the lasting impact it has on those involved, along with their families and friends.”
