Appeal for information following theft of distress flares in Arbroath

Police are appealing for information following thefts of emergency distress flares from a number of boats in Arbroath.

The theft happened between 10.30pm on Saturday, 1 and 5am on Monday, 3 June, 2024 at Arbroath Harbour.

Sergeant Helen Ireland said: “This has shown a disregard to safety and has taken vital equipment from these boats.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact police.

“We also ask any motorists with dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0297 of 4 June, 2024.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
