Youths charged in connection with wilful fire-raisings and vandalisms in Elgin
Two male youths have been charged in connection with wilful fire-raisings and vandalisms in Elgin.
The pair, aged 13 and 14, were previously charged in connection with five incidents, however, following further enquiries, have now been charged with an additional eight.
The incidents happened between Friday, 24 November, 2023 and Friday, 5 January, 2024. They include a wilful fire at the Pavilion at Elgin Cemetery as well as fire-raisings and vandalism in the New Elgin area.
A joint report has been submitted the Procurator Fiscal and the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration.
Constable Donald Matheson, Elgin Community Officer, said: “I’d like to thank the local community for their support with our enquiries. Please continue to report any anti-social issues to us.
“Police Scotland works with partner agencies to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in our area, whilst also educating on the dangers and consequences.
