Fatal road crash on High Street, Dumbarton on Thursday, 18 January, 2024
Road Policing Officers are appealing for information after a fatal road crash in Dumbarton on Thursday, 18 January, 2024.
Around 12.25pm, an 85-year-old man was crossing High Street, near to its junction with Bridge Street, when he was struck by a Vauxhall Mokka being driven by a 76-year-old man.
Police and Ambulance attended and the pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died on Saturday, 20 January.
The 76-year-old driver did not require medical treatment.
Sergeant Archie McGuire said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“As our enquiries continue to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash, I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. If you were in the area of High Street or Bridge Street around the time of the crash, or if you have any dashcam footage, please contact us as soon as possible.”
