Update – crash near East Gordon on the A6105 in the Scottish Borders

Following a crash near East Gordon in the Scottish Borders on Wednesday, 31 January, 2024, an 11-year-old girl has died.

She was Elizabeth Bell from East Gordon.

The incident happened around 8.05am on the A6105 near a junction with an unclassified local road and involved the girl and a bin lorry.

The girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Edinburgh where she died on Wednesday, 7 February, 2024.

Sergeant Dom Doyle said: “Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family and they have asked for privacy at this very difficult time.”

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are asking anyone who has not already spoken to officers and can assist with our investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0574 of Wednesday, 31 January, 2024.
