Mateusz Guzik jailed for two and a half years for possession of indecent images of children
A man has been jailed for over two and a half years after pleading guilty to possession of indecent images of children.
Mateusz Guzik, 24, was arrested following a search of his home in Newmilns, Ayrshire, on 12 July, 2022.
He admitted to charges relating to possession of indecent images and a communications offence when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 12 December, 2023.
He was jailed for 31 months when he returned to be sentenced on Tuesday, 30 January, 2024.
Detective Inspector Michelle Burns, National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, Police Scotland said:
“Mateusz Guzik showed utter contempt for the child victims and the horrific sexual abuse they suffered in the images and videos he was viewing.
“He may have believed his appalling offending online would go undetected however there is no hiding place and as a result of our investigation he will is now facing the consequences of his actions.
"Any form of child sexual abuse is a serious criminal offence and we would encourage anyone with concerns about a child at risk of abuse, or a potential victim, to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
