Man arrested and charged in connection with death of woman in Galashiels
An 84-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman in Galashiels.
Around 3.05am on Monday, 9 December, 2024, officers were called to a report of the death of a woman at a property on Wood Street.
Margaret Maude Hanson, 84, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, released through Police Scotland, her family said: "We are devastated at the loss of our mum and gran.
"Margaret will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
"We would ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time."
The 84-year-old man is due to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 10 December, 2024.
Detective Inspector Debbie Duncan said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Margaret who are being supported by specialist officers.
"We would again ask that their privacy is respected at this time."
