Fatal Road Crash – M74, Junction 2 near Rutherglen
A 65-year-old man had died following a crash on the M74 at Junction 2 near Rutherglen.
Around 6pm on Sunday, 22 December 2024, the 65-year-old male driver died when the Porsche Boxster vehicle he was driving, collided with several vehicles before crashing into the central reservation on the Southbound carriageway of the M74, Glasgow.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 45-year-old female driver of a Nissan Leaf car and 42-year-old female driver of a BMW 2 series car were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
The M74 was closed in both directions to allow a full investigation. It was fully opened around 4.30am on Monday, 23 December 2024.
Sergeant Adnan Alam at the Road Policing, Helen Street, Govan said:
“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this difficult time.
“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to please check this as they may have captured the crash or just prior to it taking place.”
