Pedestrian who died in M74 collision named
A pedestrian who died in a fatal collision on the M74 in Lanarkshire has been named.
Officers received a report of a man seen walking southbound on the motorway, near to Junction Six for Hamilton, around 3.10am on Saturday, 3 August.
The collision, involving a HGV, happened a short time later and 18-year-old Christopher Keenan, from Blantyre, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Christopher's family have issued the following statement through Police Scotland:
“We would like to thank everyone for their condolences. Christopher was a much loved son, brother, grandson and cousin. He was an inspiration to all that knew him, and he will be greatly missed by everyone.”
Enquiries are ongoing and officers continue to appeal for any witnesses to get in touch.
Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts remain with Christopher's family and friends at this very difficult time.
“I am urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw Christopher walking along the roadway, and has not yet spoken to us to please get in touch.
“We would also like to see any dashcam footage taken around the time of the collision on the M74 between junctions six and seven.
