Male youth arrested after taxi driver robbed in Glasgow

A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged after a taxi driver was robbed of his vehicle in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow.

The youth is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 26 August, 2024.

The incident happened around 11.35pm on Thursday, 22 August, when a blue Skoda taxi was flagged down by two males in Langbar Crescent near to Edinburgh Road.

A knife was presented and the car was taken and later found abandoned after crashing into a tree near St Lukes Avenue in Carluke.

Another vehicle was reported stolen from outside a property on Lanark Road, Carluke, in the early hours of Friday, 23 August, and found abandoned in Hallhill Road in Barlanark, Glagow. The incidents are being treated as linked.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the second male. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4370 of Thursday, 22 August, 2024.
