Appeal for information after electric bikes vandalised in Inverness

Police are appealing for information following a series of vandalism incidents in the Inverness area.

A number of Highland Council owned electric bikes, which can be hired by members of the public, have been damaged recently at four different locations in the city.

Five bikes were damaged outside the Hilton Community Centre in Oldtown Road between 11.30pm on Tuesday, 13 August, and 12.35am on Wednesday, 14 August, 2024.

One bike was vandalised outside Great Glen House in Leachkin Road around 12.30am on Wednesday, 14 August.

Another bike was damaged outside the Highland Council Headquarters in Glenurquhart Road around 12.30am on Wednesday, 14 August, with a further one found beyond repair around 1am on Saturday, 17 August, 2024.

Inspector David McAlpine said: “Enquiries are ongoing into these vandalisms and we are appealing for anyone with information which could help our investigation to please come forward.

“We would like to speak to any members of the public who may have noticed suspicious activity at the above locations on the dates the bikes were damaged, or any motorists with dashcam footage of the area which could be of significance.
