Update on Renfrewshire and Inverclyde estates consultation
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in our consultations on the future of Greenock, Paisley, Ferguslie Park and Port Glasgow police stations. These initial consultations have now closed.
The anonymous feedback and views provided at this stage will help to inform the next phase of our discussions and next steps.
We are committed to continuing to provide a local policing service for the people of Inverclyde and Renfrewshire, and a physical base to serve the Inverclyde communities plus a physical base to serve the Paisley and wider Renfrewshire communities will be required to do that.
This is a point that Chief Superintendent Gordon McCreadie emphasised in an Inverclyde Council meeting in January 2024. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouQ-6j5bsKE)
As part of the next stage, we will evaluate all options available to us. Practical matters, such as a custody provision and public counter services will naturally also form part of our considerations and will be carefully thought through.
Identifying solutions that best meets the needs of modern policing as well as communities, will take time to develop and we will keep you informed with any updates.
The findings of the initial consultations will be published on the Police Scotland Engagement Hub in due course.
