Appeal following theft of high value car – Rutherglen
Police are appealing for information following the theft of a high-value car in Rutherglen on Friday, 29 March, 2024.
Around 6.40am on Saturday, 30 March 2024, police were called to a report that a grey Range Rover Sport had been stolen via a keyless theft from a driveway in Coldstream Drive around 10.30 pm the previous night.
Constable Martin Barnsley, Rutherglen Police Station, said: “We have managed to get CCTV from the area and around 10.30pm on Friday night, a person wearing dark clothing is seen near the car, then getting in and driving off. The owner of the car still has the keys and the house was not broken into.
“We believe the vehicle was deliberately targeted and that the thief used what is known as relay theft where the signal from the true key is by-passed and unauthorised access gained.
“We would appeal to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area, or who may have any information on the whereabouts of the vehicle which has a SE66 prefix to contact police.”
Information can be passed to officers via 101 quoting incident number 0773 of Saturday, 30 March 2024. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
