Appeal for information following report of person in water at River Tay, Perth

Officers in Tayside are appealing for information following a report of a person missing in the River Tay in Perth.

Around 10.15pm yesterday, Monday, 11 September, 2023, police received a report of a sighting of a person in the water at the River Tay near North Inch, Perth. There is no description of the person or what they were wearing due to the incident occurring after daylight hours.

Emergency services were called, and a multi-agency response from Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard and RNLI was instigated.

Despite extensive efforts, no person was found, and a search to trace the person is continuing.

Sergeant Paul Smith said: "Our search remains ongoing for this person, and we are asking for the public’s assistance to help trace them.

“If you were in the area of the River Tay last night and saw or heard anything that might assist us in our search, please get in touch as soon as possible via 101 quoting incident number 4389 of 11 September.”
