Man jailed following fatal crash on A72
A 48-year-old man has today, Thursday, 5 October, 2023 been sentenced at Glasgow High Court following a fatal road crash on the A72 between Innerleithen and Walkerburn, which took place on Saturday, 23 April, 2022.
The crash led to the death of a 60-year-old motorcyclist, Brian Wilson, from Newtongrange, who died at the scene.
Andrew Taylor has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after previously pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving whilst under the influence of drugs. He has also been disqualified from driving for 16 years.
Chief Inspector Mark Patterson said: "This sentencing can never reflect the devastating impact that Brian's death has had on his family and friends and our thoughts remain with them.
“Drivers are responsible for their actions and the risks they take have lasting consequences."
