Appeal following theft of copper wire in Dingwall
Police are appealing for information after copper wiring and its drum, worth a four-figure sum, were stolen from a building site near Tulloch Square, Dingwall.
The theft occurred between 5pm on Friday the 6th October and 7.15 am on Monday the 9th October 2023.
Constable Dan McArthur, Dingwall Police Station, said:
“We believe that this was a targeted theft and that the thieves knew what they were looking for.
“Due to the drum and wire being a considerable weight, it would need more than one person to have moved it. It is believed a van or a trailer was used to transport it.
“We are checking CCTV in the area and liaising with local scrap metal merchants should they be approached by people looking to sell the wire.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area and seen a van or vehicle with a trailer attached carrying a copper wire drum, or indeed, anyone who saw a van and its occupants acting suspiciously in the days prior to the theft.”
