Appeal following attempted robbery incident in Alexandria
Officers in Alexandria are appealing for witnesses, and specifically a man who they believe may have been the victim of a crime, to come forward.
Shortly before 11am on Thursday, 12 October, 2023, a man is believed to have approached a second man who was withdrawing money from an ATM in the Main Street area. An altercation occurred yet it is unclear if any money was stolen by the man who approached the person withdrawing cash.
Two women were believed to have disturbed the man during the incident who left the area on foot.
Officers have been conducting local enquiries and are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this take place.
Detective Constable Craig McGarry said: “Since this incident was reported we have made efforts to trace both the apparent victim and suspect involved in this incident.
“Whether cash was stolen or not, what has been reported is a serious incident. We are keen to trace the persons involved promptly so that we can fully understand what has happened.
“I’d ask anyone with information, or the women who are believed to have seen what happened, to come forward and speak with officers.”
