Man jailed for eight years for serious sexual assaults in Arbroath
A man convicted of serious sexual assaults in Arbroath has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
John Dutch was arrested and charged following a report of a serious sexual assault of a teenage girl in Arbroath. As part of ongoing enquiries, officers uncovered additional victims.
At the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, 9 November, 2023, Dutch was sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
Detective Constable Susan Geddes said: “We understand how difficult this has been for Dutch’s victims. Our thoughts remain with them, and I hope this sentencing offers them some comfort as they move forward with their lives.
“I would also like to reassure our communities that we are committed to investigating all reports of physical, emotional and sexual abuse and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice. I urge anyone who has been the victim of any offence of this nature to contact us where you will be fully supported by our officers and partner agencies.”
