Appeal for information following fatal crash near Strathblane

Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A891 in East Dunbartonshire.

The incident, involving a blue Suzuki motorcycle, happened near to Strathblane around 3.20pm on Sunday, 28 May, 2023.

Emergency services attended and a 48-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died on Monday, 29 May, 2023.

He has been named as Robert Paton, of Bellshill.

The road was closed for around eight hours whilst a full collision investigation was carried out and reopened around 11.30pm.

Sergeant Nick Twigg of Glasgow Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with Robert's family and friends and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the motorcycle before the crash, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was on the A891 around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
