Appeal for information following fatal crash, Isle of Lewis
Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A859 on the Isle of Lewis.
The incident, involving a Renault Clio and a 62-year-old female pedestrian, happened near to the Kinloch Community Hub around 3.45am on Thursday, 11 May, 2023.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, Cathie Ann MacLeod from Balallan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for around 13 hours whilst a full collision investigation was carried out and reopened around 5pm.
Sergeant Ewan Calder of Fort William Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with Cathie Ann’s family and friends and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.
“I am appealing for anyone who saw either Cathie Ann or the car, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the Balallan area around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
