Appeal for information following fatal crash in Uddingston

We are appealing for information following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a white Audi on the B7071 in Uddingston.

It happened around 11am on Wednesday, 17 May, 2023, on Glasgow Road at Belmont Avenue.

Emergency services attended, however the 79-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.

Road Policing Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash. The B7071 is one of the main routes in and out of Uddingston and is a busy stretch of road so I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

“I’m also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time who has relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage, to get in touch on 101 quoting incident number 1105 of Wednesday, 17 May.”
