Richard Wotherspoon guilty of murder in Bellshill
At the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 22 March, Richard Wotherspoon pleaded guilty to the murder of 56-year-old Samuel Hamilton in Bellshill.
Mr Hamilton was found seriously injured outside his home on Thorndean Avenue on Wednesday, 18 May, 2022 and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Wotherspoon was arrested on Friday, 20 May, 2022 and he is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, 19 April.
Detective Inspector Ally Semple said: “Richard Wotherspoon subjected Samuel Hamilton to a brutal attack which ultimately resulted in his death.
“He has now admitted responsibility for this and will face the consequences of his actions.
“Our thoughts continue to be with Mr Hamilton’s family and friends at this time. We hope that this conviction can bring some degree of closure for them.”
