Man arrested and charged after fire alarms were deliberately activated at flats in Aberdeen
A man has been arrested and charged in connection with deliberately and maliciously activating fire alarms at high rise residential buildings in the Northfield and Mastrick areas of Aberdeen.
The 19-year-old was due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, 10 March, 2023.
Between 29 September 2022 and 7 February 2023, fire alarms were activated within blocks of flats a total of 14 times, resulting in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service being called out on each occasion.
The alarms were activated twice at Cairncry Court, three times at Rosehill Court, twice at Stockethill Court, once at Stewart Park Court and six times at Smithfield Court.
Sergeant Victoria Thomson said: “This kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It has a major impact on our communities.
“If officers and colleagues from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are deployed at a false alarm they are tied up from attending real emergency calls.
“We do not take these false calls lightly and will always work towards tracing those responsible.”
