Further arrests following death in Greenock

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged, and a 27-year-old man arrested, in connection with the death of Neil Canney in Greenock.

Mr Canney, 37, was found seriously injured in Nairn Road around 1.15am on Tuesday, 28 February, 2023.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.

The 38-year-old is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, 9 March. The investigation into the death remains ongoing.

Two further men, aged 22 and 28, have previously been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Both have already appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court earlier this week.
