Appeal following serious motorbike crash, Irvine
Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious motorbike crash in Irvine.
It happened around 6.20pm on Monday, 27 March, 2023 on the B7080 slip road eastbound towards Long Drive, shortly after exiting the Eglington Interchange roundabout.
The 28-year-old male rider of the motorbike was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The injured motorcyclist has left the road for an unknown reason, colliding with the crash barriers. Officers are looking to trace the driver of a blue car who may have seen the motorbike just before the crash.
Road Policing Sergeant Paul Hughes said: “As our investigations continue into what happened, I’m particularly keen to hear from the driver of a blue car who may have seen the motorbike pass them just before the crash. There were two motorcycles riding together, the Black Suzuki GSXR 600 which was involved in the collision, followed by a friend on a Blue Suzuki GSX S.
“I’d also urge anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. Drivers in the area around that time on Monday with dash cam footage, please review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 2957 of 27 March, 2023.
