Appeal after teenager assaulted and robbed of possessions in Musselburgh
Officers are appealing for information after a teenager was the victim of an assault and robbery incident in Musselburgh.
The incident took place near to the car park area of the Brunton Theatre on Ladywell Way just after 4pm on Wednesday, 8 March, 2023.
The 18-year-old victim was approached by two males and a female. The men then assaulted the victim and stole items of clothing along with his mobile phone. The victim did not require hospital treatment.
The suspects are both described as white males, between 17-18-years-old. The first was around 6ft tall, of slim build, with ginger hair which was long at the top and shorter on the sides. He was wearing black puffer-type jacket and black jeans.
The second suspect was around 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build with dyed red hair. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and was carrying a rucksack.
The stolen clothing was recovered by officers and the mobile phone was handed into Musselburgh Police Station by a member of the public later that evening.
Detective Sergeant Declan Hogg from Dalkeith CID said: “This incident happened in broad daylight and would have been alarming for any members of the public who saw it.
“We’re especially keen to hear from a woman with a pushchair who we believe was in the area at the time of the incident as she may have seen what happened. Also the woman who handed the mobile phone into Musselburgh Police Station, please get back in touch at your earliest convenience.
“Equally anyone who may have information about the incident, or the suspects involved, is asked to contact officers.”
